Introducing Facebook Graph Search

Facebook Graph Search

Facebook's big announcement yesterday was Graph Search. It's a deeply important step for Facebook. But it's also kind of unlike other search systems out there, and adds a bunch of new ways to use Facebook. It's a new way to search for things you’re looking for on the social network

Build for discorver information in your Facebook network, Graph Search can be used to search for something simple like ”Photos of my friends," or something more complex like “Photos of my friends before 2006 uploaded by my cousin.”

The service is still in beta version, with only a few hundred people gaining access to it yesterday! At the moment this service is only available in the US, in Portugal where I live, there is no ETA for this service. Facebook will be using results from those initial users to help tweak the service, before release it to the whole of the Facebook community.

Emily Price was one of the lucky ones who had early access to Graph Search, and she took's it for a spin.

Check out bellow some of the searches she was able to do on Facebook with Graph Search, and how it works.

Facebook is starting with just a few search criteria in graph Search. in the future, additional variables will be added, for instance, Instagram.

Graph Search Introduction

Restaurant Search – With Graph Search you can search for restaurants by type, as well as location. You can also search specifically for restaurants you or your friends like.

In summary I can say that Graph Search is way to sort through Facebook, but will still give you web search results that focuses on four main areas, and it kind of works like a dating website. And has the potential to be a crazy powerful stalker tool, and will be hugely more powerful in the future.
